That’s the title of a painting of Obama with a crown of thorns, arms stretched out, holding a curtain. It’s amazing to me how much of Obama’s egomania is revealed in the painting. Obama with his head bowed down in false humility, smirking because he knows he deserves the limelight, taking center stage, arms outstretched, grasping the curtains so no one else can join him onstage.
Of course it’s only been a hundred days and I’d give him some slack but one of his supporters wants to compare him to Jesus Christ to celebrate his first 100 days in office. The same Jesus Christ who changed water into wine, calmed the seas, healed the sick, blind, deaf and lame and who wore the crown of thorns with his arms stretched out as he died on the cross for our sins. The same Jesus Christ who he was raised from the dead and sits on the right hand of God. The comparison is laughable and it’s my hope that one day the Obamanites who look at Obama as their messiah, their savior from the injustices of the world will learn that you can’t put your hope and trust in a mere sinner like us.
Update: For those of you who think the right made up the whole messiah thing, check out this post. Notice the date and the publication. Sorry, all we’re doing is pointing out the obvious.
BTW, for those who haven’t read the Bible, here’s the passage where the title of the painting is from:
ESV John 14:1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
