Jake Tapper notes that Obama has a long list of things he’s promising to do for America but isn’t telling us how he’ll pay for them (besides tax the rich and spread the wealth around):

Once you get past the soaring oratory, to experience a speech by Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is to be hit with an astoundingly lengthy list of promises.
“I don’t know how any reasonable person” could think he’d really be able to accomplish everything he’s pledging to do, said the mother-in-law of a colleague, a Missouri woman who intends to vote for Obama.

He put together a list from Obama’s speech in Sarasota, Fla yesterday. It’s quite lengthy. I thought this one was a stretch given the fact that Barney Frank has stated that the Democrats intend to cut the defense budget by 25%:

“invest in 21st century technologies so that our men and women have the best training and equipment when they deploy into combat and the care and benefits they have earned when they come home”;

And this is not true as we’ve already seen:

not increase taxes on anyone if they “make under $250,000; you will not see your taxes increase by a single dime — not your income taxes, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains tax”;

And he’s doesn’t even have to promise them anything, they’re making up their own list:

“It was the most touching moment of my life! I never thought this day would ever happen! I won’t have to work to put gas in my car! I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage!
You know, if I help him, he’s going to help us!”

Come January, that woman is in for a cruel shock! She’s going to be paying for her own gas and mortgage because Obama isn’t going to pay for it. It will be a good lesson for her kids. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.
