Obama didn’t even get a chance to save the day by voting against closure. He wasn’t even there, though I doubt if anyone can blame him because the vote wasn’t even close since 80 Senators voted for closure.

An effort to block a wide-ranging overhaul of U.S. wiretapping laws failed in the Senate on Wednesday, with opponents mustering only 15 votes against the bill in a procedural vote.

“The bill has changed. So I don’t think the security threats have changed, I think the security threats are similar. My view on FISA has always been that the issue of the phone companies per se is not one that overrides the security interests of the American people.”
