She couldn’t figure out the word for it (senior moment, probably). Clearly this woman thinks she has more power than she does. And I loved the oil executives response, they said that they’ve seen this movie before it’s called Hugo Chavez and Venezuela.

And good for the oil executives for putting the blame where it belongs, with Congress’ inaction. I’ve been thinking lately that it would be in the oil companies’ best interest to start a campaign to get Congress to open up drilling in protected areas. It’s time that they fight back against the labels the left have given them (big oil) and show the public who the real enemy is: big Congress. They could start an ad campaign using these clips with a simple voice over:

“We tried to tell Congress that they need to open up new areas for drilling but they wouldn’t listen, they threatened to take over our industry as Hugo Chavez took over the oil industry in Venezuela. Now it’s your turn to tell Congress what you think of drilling.”
And then give the switchboard number for Congress. I think with oil prices so high, this is the perfect time to strike and get drilling in protected areas.
BTW, I could just see the mess that the government would make of the oil industry. I shudder at the thought.
