Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Pat Toomey of Club for Growth were on Hardball and had a discussion about conservatism in the Republican party. I was very happy to see that Tony Perkins said we wouldn’t win without a conservative who brings together the conservative coalition of fiscal, financial and social conservatives (I thought he might have followed Huckabee’s lead to throw it under the bus to usher in the new post-partisan populism). Tony Perkins thinks that Huckabee could pull off a win against the Democrats but he thinks it would be tough. He thinks John McCain or Romney could win (yeah, right — old Bob Dole beat a Clinton last time, right?)(via)
