Hannity interviews Thompson and they go over all the main issues. He sounded good. Calls those looking for dirt on him, “gnats” and that someone called his wife pretending to be her ex-boyfriend to dig up dirt. He thought it might be Republicans and would have been faltered if it were the Democrats.I was on a liberal blog this morning and the chickenhawk charge was made against Thompson. *Yawn* I hope they keep up that kind of childish rhetoric because it demonstrates that they don’t have too much on him. The blogger was upset that Thompson said of the Democrats in Congress that “They’re as near to investing in defeat of their own country than anything I’ve ever seen, and I don’t think the American people will forgive them for that.” And he called their actions a fringe position. The blogger was upset that Thompson didn’t acknowledge that the public wants to end the war. I think what the blogger doesn’t understand is that though the American public doesn’t want to continue losing in Iraq, they don’t want the Democrats declaring defeat and trying to defund the troops. That is an extreme position and one that Reid would probably be surprised that few share. Moveon.org does not speak for America. Where are the polls that ask, “Do you think that Reid should be declaring defeat while our troops are still fighting this war?” I doubt many Americans would agree that it’s a good thing.
