Go check out Karen’s quotes about women by men of the church over at got me a college girl. Here’s a sample:

“Men should not sit and listen to a woman. Even if she says admirable things, or even saintly things, that is of little consequence, since they came from the mouth of a woman.” Origen, early church father

“Woman is defective and misbegotten, for the active power in the male seed tends to the production of a perfect likeness in the masculine sex, while production of woman comes from defect in the active force.” Thomas Aquinas

Thank the Lord that we aren’t viewed that way today (or are we, check out the video). And thank the Lord for the ladies over at this wonderful website who bring this stuff to our attention. I have learned a great deal about what’s going on in the blogosphere from their website.
The church that undervalues their women is a church that rejects what the Lord has given to the body for the use by all. I praise God that I live in a time when this is not the predominate view of the church but only its fringe element. Thank you, Lord that my pastor doesn’t think this way, nor my husband and seminary professors. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by support and encouragement. I feel sorry for those who are not. I pray that the Lord will awaken the church to the clear teaching of His word:

Ephesians 4:15-16 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Thank you Lord that this is what goes on at my church and I pray that it is what goes on through this website.
