“…The people of Israel will learn not to stray from me, polluting themselves with sin. They will be my people, and I will be their God. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!’” (Ezekiel 14:11)

We are grateful to the wonderful people in the world who diligently care for the earth and fight for a clean, polution-free planet. Yet, very little is said in our culture about another deadly sort of pollution:  soul pollution. Soul pollution builds up when we stray from God’s directives in His Word through sin. What is sin? Anything that pollutes my soul – anything that is not lovely or loving or true to God’s ways which are written for our benefit and joy.

Have soul pollution? There is a solution! Let Jesus cleanse your soul!

Dear Lord,

I feel like Pig Pen, walking around with a cloud of yuck following me wherever I go. I can’t cleanse my soul myself, so I come to you, Great Savior, and ask that you would irradicate the pollution in my soul. I have allowed it to grow and fester through my actions. I haven’t followed you aright and I can barely see for the darkness around me. But today is a new day. I don’t want the road I’m on. I’m turning around and coming back to you! Will you take me? Yes, I’m convinced you will. Your Word is true and you always embrace the lost ones like me. Thank you, Jesus. As I turn from the path of pollution, I will embrace the good news that with your help, we can make something grand of this life. Hope is on the way. You are here! Bring on the fresh wind of Your Holy Spirit.

Amen
