Carefully determine what pleases the Lord…Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. (Ephesians 5:10,17)

Paul encourages us to not allow life to happen to us, but rather to live intentionally – living out God’s intentions for our lives, not reacting but acting on purpose! Here’s a prayer:

God,

You are a planner. And you have given me a mind, created in Your image. Life is complicated. There are myriads of options, and I can never plan with certainty for all the unexpected complications. But you are never surprised. You offer me direction when I take the time and effort to ask and listen. I have many demands on my life. My schedule is full. I don’t know where to begin. I bring my to-do list to you and invite you to cut out what is unnecessary. Show me Your best for my day. Love is your highest goal for my life, so let everything on my list reflect that virtue.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
