May he give us the desire to do his will in everything and to obey all the commands… And may these words that I have prayed in the presence of the Lord be before him constantly, day and night… 1 Kings 8:58,59

Solomon was at one point in his life the wisest man that ever lived, and this Scripture was his prayer. Let’s make it ours today.

My Father,

My desires don’t always line up with your Word. Sometimes my flesh takes over and I want what I want when I want it. Please forgive me. Transform me. Give me a new heart. Give me the desire to do your will in everything I do, every moment of every day. Help me to recall your words, especially the commands that fit the situations and temptations I will inevitably face today. Grant me a willing heart to walk in your ways, for I know (many times I’ve learned the hard way), that your way – your way alone – is the path to a blessed life, a life of joy that has enough to give away to other hurting souls.

In Jesus’ Name I ask this. Amen.

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.  Psalm 37:4
