“…If your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead?  Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” Luke 11:11-13

The Holy Spirit is available for the asking. His role in the Kingdom of God is to lead us into Truth (John 14:16), teach us everything we need to know, bringing to mind the things Jesus taught (John 14:26), to convict us when we have strayed from the Blessing of God (John 16:7), and to let us in on inside information God would have us know about the future (John 16:13).

Who couldn’t use a little of that? Ask for the Holy Spirit today! Invite him to show you the truth about the situations you are facing. Our perspectives are skewed and often imcomplete, so we need His wisdom.

My Father,

Thank you for sending Your Spirit to lead me into truth today. Help me to hear the voice of the Spirit, to have the discernment and guidance you provide through Your Spirit. Give me your wisdom in each matter involving decisions, big and small. Convict me when I head off in my own direction, leaving your path of abundant joy. Prick me with nettles until I return to you fully.

I don’t know what I don’t know, so I need you to show the way, reminding me of Jesus’ example and teachings. As for my future, give me a heads up so I can avoid pitfalls and painful failures. Keep me alert to your slightest whispers. Thank you.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
