These are the descriptive words used in Matthew 27 (New Living Version) depicting the verbal abuse that Jesus suffered:

They shouted at him…jeered at him…condemned him…accused him…mocked him…truanted him…abused him…yelled at him…and ridiculed him…

Jesus suffered abuse on every level including verbal torture. The noise of it all. Deadly sticks and stones in the form of words. Imagine the body language accompanying these tones. All to degrade, debase, and denigrate this dying man.

Father,

Forgive me for using my words to hurt others. I have been the source of pain through unkind, angry words. Especially to those I love most. Forgive me, cleanse me, and heal the hurts that my words have caused. Create in me a clean heart and a right spirit. Transform my soul. Make me like you, “slow to anger” and obedient to your charge to be “slow to speak.”

Your Beloved Begotten Son, Jesus, endured the worst form of verbal torture a human can suffer. Yet He forgave. I lift up to you those of our friends and loved ones who have suffered the violence of hateful words. Words have power to change us. And when we submit to them, they become fulfilled prophecies, breeding soul diseases. But you have saved us from every curse through Your sacrifice. You sent Your Word and healed us. Teach us to live by Your Words and to reject and renounce every curse uttered against us. We receive the Blessing of Your Word and Your great love today.

Amen

“I commend you to the Word of His grace…It is able to build you up and to give you your rightful inheritance among all God’s set-apart ones — those…transformed of soul.” ~Acts 20:32 (Amplified)
