The ‘latest and greatest’ in “Fat TV” was rolled out on CBS last night. “Mike and Molly” is a 30-minute sitcom that’s about two hugely likable people who meet at an Overeaters Anonymous (OA) meeting. It’s your basic boy meets girl story, with a heavy twist, as both are ‘plus-sized.’
The main characters of the show, Police Officer Mike Biggs (Billy Gardell) and fourth-grade teacher Molly Flynn (Melissa McCarthy formerly Sookie from The Gilmore Girls), toss ‘weighty’ jokes back n’ forth, as does the supporting cast.

There’s been a lot of buzz on the Internet today about Mike and Molly’s fat jokes, some finding them offensive. Did you?
In my book, All Is Forgiven, Move On: Our Lady of Weight Loss’s 101 Fat Burning Steps on Your Journey to Sveltesville, Step 2: Laugh Yourself Skinny encourages laughter!
“Laughter gives us distance. It allows us to step back from an event, deal with it and then move on.” ~ Bob Newhart.
Laughter:
activates the will to live
lowers stress
elevates mood
improves brain functioning
reduces risk of heart disease, stroke, arthritis and ulcers
dissolves anger
burns calories
exercises muscles
I’m all for filling up on laughter!
Please weigh-in on Mike and Molly! What did you think? Offensive? Sweet? Thumbs up? Down? Sideways?!!!
Spread the word … NOT the icing!
