Always in search of a new fruit or vegetable, you can imagine my delight when this morning, while squeezing fruit at the Olive Market (125th street between Madison and Fifth Avenues), I stumbled upon the mysterious Kumato. The Kumato is a tomato … sort of. It is kind of brown, with green and red undertones. For some this may translate as less appealing than the usual red, but it’s well worth stepping out of your color box. The Kumato, originally from the Spanish Mediterranean, are sweeter than your average store-bought tomato due to their ‘brix level’ (fructose content). They are firm, juicy and delish and just perfect for slicing! Add to any salad or sandwich … or just on their own. Variety really is the spice of life, and it’s definitely a good idea to introduce new, healthy foods into your daily food plan. Try the Kumato! And if you find something new, please share here! Enjoy!Spread the word … NOT the icing!Janice———————————-Curious about coaching? Janice Taylor can help you live your best life! Write Janice!
