President Donald Trump is calling on Americans to unite in prayer as the nation approaches its 250th birthday. Today, at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., Trump is set to launch America Prays, a new faith-driven initiative dedicated to reminding the country of its spiritual foundations and dependence on God.

The program invites Americans to set aside time every week to pray specifically for the United States. Organizers also encourage participants to gather with at least 10 others each week to pray in community.

“President Trump has revived one of America’s most prominent and powerful founding principles — we are one nation under God,” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers told Fox News Digital. “As we approach the 250th anniversary of the greatest country in the world, President Trump invites Americans to pray for our nation and for our people. America is stronger with the power of prayer.”

The announcement builds on Trump’s earlier remarks at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in July, where he officially kicked off America250, the year-long celebration leading to the nation’s semiquincentennial. At that event, Trump reminded Americans of the central role prayer has played throughout history.

“As we prepare to celebrate two and a half centuries of freedom, I am inviting America’s great religious communities to pray for our nation and for our people,” he said. “From the beginning, this has always been a country sustained and strengthened by prayer. If we bring religion back stronger, you’re going to see everything get better. So as we chart our course toward the next 250 years, let us rededicate ourselves to one nation under God.”

Faith leaders from across the nation have voiced their support for the initiative. Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse, emphasized the spiritual importance of the moment: “Our greatest battles are fought on our knees, and through America Prays we can join together to ask God to guide and protect this land.”

Pastor Clint Pressley of the Southern Baptist Convention echoed this sentiment, saying, “Prayer is a public testimony that we depend on God for wisdom and strength.”

By encouraging believers to gather in prayer, leaders hope the initiative will spark a revival of faith and unity in communities across the country.

The America Prays campaign has already received support from a wide range of Christian organizations and ministries. Partners include Samaritan’s Purse, Pray.com, Hallow, the National Religious Broadcasters, the Faith and Freedom Coalition, and dozens of churches nationwide.

Organizers say these partnerships demonstrate a shared conviction that the next chapter of America’s story must be written with God at the center. The hope is that millions of Americans will commit to weekly prayer as the country prepares for its milestone anniversary.

For Christians, the message behind America Prays is both a challenge and an invitation: to remember the biblical truth that “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12). As America marks 250 years of independence, Trump and faith leaders alike are urging believers to seek God’s wisdom and blessing for the next 250.

With prayer at the heart of the celebration, the semiquincentennial is being cast not merely as a historical milestone, but as a spiritual moment to rededicate the nation to the God who has guided it from the beginning.
