Thirteen-year-old Benjamin Rennie tragically passed away in a boating accident while attending a Christian summer camp in Minnesota. Rennie was tubing with another child when a boat propeller struck him and took his life. A 27-year-old employee was driving the boat when the incident occurred and began attempting life-saving care while emergency responders where on their way. Both children were wearing life jackets and no alcohol was involved.

Rennie’s family created a GoFundMe  page to help with funeral and medical bills. They described him as a young Christian creator who “made several uplifting videos on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms.” They continued by saying, “He was a helper, he was innovative, creative, and a loving 13-year-old boy. Ben touched the lives of so many people around him. He was loved by his family, friends, and colleagues. We are heartbroken by his sudden loss, and we want to give him the farewell he deserves.”

The Executive Director of the summer camp, Camp Cherith, announced the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post saying, “It is with a very heavy heart that I share with you a tragedy that occurred at North Central Camp Cherith this afternoon. At about 4:15 p.m., a camper died in a boating accident.” The statement ended by saying, “Staff members attempted life-saving care while emergency responders were en route. I am sad to say professionals were not able to save the camper’s life. Please pray for this camper’s family and all those grieving after this accident.”
