When asked what physical trait she would change about herself, Lopes said: “Thank God I’m very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

“I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life,” she told reporters.

She won during an extravaganza at the Credicard Hall in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Miss Ukraine, Olesia Stefanko, was named first runner-up while Miss Brazil, Priscila Machado,  was second runner up.

None of the top three had made the pageant’s “top 10 voted contestants” in an on-line poll sponsored by the Telemundo Spanish-language cable network.

Miss Sweden, Ronnia Fornstedt, was named Miss Photogenic and Miss Montenegro, Nikolina Loncar, was awarded the Miss Congeniality award.
