For a candidate with little money, who has been getting his butt kicked all over the place by the media, this was a brilliant move. Huck is likable. He tells a great story. He plays a mean bass guitar. He is not scary. And with the campaign going national after Iowa, he showed himself to a whole lot of America who had probably never seen him before. Tremendous line – “America is looking for a president who is more like the guy they work with than the guy who laid them off.” Not entirely sure that is true but it was a heck of a smiling slam at Sir Mitt. Also, nice nod to Barack Obama saying they were both trying to practice “vertical politics” instead of “horizontal politics” – the latter is about left/right, red state/blue state, division while the former is about taking America up or down.
