A publisher sent me a fun book today, The Original Dr. Steve’s Almanac of Christian Trivia: A Miscellany of Oddities, Instructional Anecdotes, Little-Known Facts and Occasional Frivolity Fully Incomplete, Unalphabetical, With No Consideration Given to Chronology.

– The biggest of American megachurches, Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas with an average weekly attendance of 25,000 does not even crack the top 20 worldwide. The 20 largest churches by weekly participation are outside the US. The biggest, Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, South Korea, has an average weekly attendance of 250,000. Half of the 20 largest churches are in the Southern Hemisphere.

– “Drop in the bucket,” “Set your teeth on edge,” “Out of the mouth of babes,” ” Sour grapes,” and “To fall flat on your face,” all had their origins in the King James Version of the Bible.
– There are 3.5 million hotel rooms in America and most have a bible placed there by the Gideons who place more than 60 million Bibles, in over 80 languages, all over the world every year.
