How many people in prison are actually innocent?  

Depends on which reasearcher you
ask.  

Some say that there error
rate is around 13 percent  in
murder convictions.  The most
hopeful estimate is that 99.5 percent of convictions are accurate.  Even if that is true that still means
almost 8,000 innocent people are imprisoned each year.
