Improvisation is the risk of composing in the moment.

When you read God's iteraction with Abraham as he pleads for Sodom (Gen. 18), Moses as he negotiates with God after the golden calf (Ex. 32) or the story of Jonah–God seems to be willing to improvise.

Jesus calls us to an improvisational life when he says…

"When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say."  Lk. 12.11-12

Is it difficult to think of God in these terms?  Can you think of a time when you had to improvise–compose in the moment–in your service of Christ?
