First Lady Melania Trump recently opened the White House to the children of staff members in a joyful celebration of “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.” The event, held in the Kennedy and East Gardens, reflected Melina Trump’s continued dedication to children’s well-being, family values, and patriotism.

The First Lady warmly greeted children of all ages and helped them engage in a special arts and crafts activity that celebrated America’s spirit. With wooden American flags as their canvas, the children used red and blue markers, star stickers, and fluffy red, white, and blue pom-poms to create their own tributes to the nation. Sporting a white button-up blouse and floral pencil skirt, Mrs. Trump was hands-on in assisting the children and encouraging their creativity.

“It is always special to see children’s creativity and spirit on display, especially here at the White House, where so many hardworking men and women support the success of our Nation every day,” she said during the event.

Many of the children wore “Gulf of America” Navy hats embroidered with “45-47,” a nod to former President Donald Trump’s role as both the 45th and current 47th president. While the event was filled with smiles and laughter, it also underscored the deeper mission Mrs. Trump continues to pursue through her “Be Best” initiative—a platform that promotes children’s health and well-being, online safety, and strong character development.

This festive gathering came just a day after the First Lady stood beside her husband as he signed the “Take It Down” Act into law. The bill, which she has championed since his first inauguration, targets internet abuse by penalizing the sharing of nonconsensual, explicit images online. It marks a significant legislative win that directly supports the “Be Best” mission by working to protect the dignity and safety of young people in the digital world.

Mrs. Trump also recently secured a major policy achievement: a $25 million investment in foster youth programs, now included in President Trump’s proposed 2026 federal budget. This funding aims to expand resources and support for children in foster care, another key component of her work as First Lady.

In addition to her advocacy, Mrs. Trump has remained active in uplifting others through meaningful events. Ahead of Mother’s Day, she hosted a special gathering honoring military mothers, including women currently serving in uniform, spouses of service members, and Gold Star mothers. And in a touching tribute to a fellow former First Lady, she led the unveiling of a commemorative stamp honoring Barbara Bush, calling it a celebration of Bush’s lasting legacy and impact.

Through every speech, craft, and initiative, Melania Trump continues to inspire by shining the spotlight on the next generation. Whether she champions stronger online protections, advocates for foster youth, or simply decorates flags with young hearts and hands, her actions point to a faith-driven belief in nurturing children’s potential and building a better future for all.

As she said at the event, the White House serves not only as a seat of power but also as a place where children’s joy and promise can be celebrated—and where their voices and creativity are always welcome.
