When Teo Jordan, a teenager working at Kroger in Kentucky, overheard a cashier telling an older man to put back the items he couldn’t afford, the young man instantly stepped in, and the simple act of kindness has so many praising the helpful teen. Teo Jordan is an 18-year-old high school senior from Covington, Kentucky, who has only been working at Kroger as a bagger for a few weeks.

He’s working on saving up to buy a car, but that didn’t stop him from going above and beyond for a customer who needed help. It started when Jordan overheard a conversation at the checkout between a cashier and an older man. The cashier told the older man he didn’t have enough money to cover the groceries in his order. Without the slightest hesitation, Jordan reached into his wallet.

Jordan said of the random act of kindness, “I just saw I wanted to help the guy. I saw that he didn’t have the money for all the groceries that he wanted. The cashier told him he would have to put some of the things back, so I just thought in my head I would give him this $35 so he could have all the food that he wants.” The teen working at Kroger didn’t think anything of his act of kindness. After all, he thinks you should just “treat people how you want to be treated, always help out if somebody needs it.”

However, Jordan’s good deed awed others and left his proud mom “overwhelmed with joy.” Teo Jordan didn’t expect or want a big fuss made over his kind deed. However, in these challenging times, inspiring stories like this are exactly what we need to hear, and Jordan shared some good advice for all of us.

He said, “Just do something helpful for people. Let them know that God’s there for them and make sure they have a good day.”
