A popular influencer couple known for sharing their off-road travel adventures with hundreds of thousands of followers have tragically died in a crash in the Canadian wilderness.
Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans, the duo behind @ToyotaWorldRunners, were killed on August 7 when their off-road vehicle rolled over near Trout Lake in British Columbia. The crash happened around 6:30 p.m., according to The Sun.
Kaslo Search and Rescue (SAR) manager Mark Jennings-Bates described the heartbreaking and challenging recovery efforts.
“It was a challenging rescue and recovery for the team after an intensely busy few days,” he said in a statement. “The remote access, high altitude, and limited daylight all added complexity to an already difficult situation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those involved.”
The SAR team’s press release did not name the victims but confirmed that when crews reached the scene, a male occupant was found dead in the vehicle. A woman, discovered away from the crash site, was “disoriented and suffering from serious injuries.” She was airlifted to a hospital but died later that day.
The cause of the crash is still unknown.
Tourout and Yeomans had built a loyal fan base through their adventurous spirit, documenting their journeys in the great outdoors. Their Toyota World Runners YouTube channel, launched in January 2020, grew to 200,000 subscribers with 345 videos viewed nearly 18 million times. Their Instagram account attracted more than 74,000 followers.
Fellow off-roading creator Colin Stuart of Dirt Theory, who was reportedly with the couple at the time, shared the deep sense of loss felt within the community.
“I’m sorry to all that this has affected. This is a big loss for the off-road community and a bigger loss to Matthew’s and Stacey’s family and close friends.”
Stuart said he “did everything” he could to save them.
Stacey’s mother, Colleen Tourot, posted her own heartbreaking message.
“Please keep us and them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating end to an amazing Love Story.”
For their followers, Matthew and Stacey weren’t just influencers—they were a real-life love story set against the backdrop of rugged trails, mountain views, and unforgettable adventures. Their videos inspired countless people to explore the outdoors and embrace a life of curiosity and courage.
Now, the off-roading and social media communities are coming together to grieve, to pray for their families, and to honor the joy this couple brought to so many.
Though their journey was cut tragically short, the legacy of their adventures—and the love they shared—will continue to leave a lasting mark on the hearts of those they touched.
