An Ohio community is reeling after a horrific act of domestic violence claimed the lives of two children and an adult before killing himself.

According to the Tiffin Police Department, 42-year-old Ryan Eagon allegedly ambushed his wife as she was trying to move out of their Seneca County home amid ongoing domestic troubles. Police say Eagon fatally shot his 7-month-old son, his wife’s 7-year-old son, and the 7-year-old’s father, 29-year-old Dustin Willey, before turning the gun on himself.

“As a community, we are not accustomed to events of this horrific and heartbreaking nature in Tiffin,” Police Chief David Pauly said in a Facebook post. “I ask that all residents keep the victims’ families in their thoughts as they face unimaginable loss.”

Authorities were called to the 100 block of Huss Street just before 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 after reports of “shots fired and screaming.” When officers arrived, they found four people suffering from gunshot wounds and an adult woman “physically uninjured but clearly in a state of shock, overwhelmed and visibly traumatized,” according to police.

Investigators determined that the tragedy unfolded as the mother was attempting to remove belongings from the home with Willey’s help. The two believed Eagon was out of town for work and were inside gathering items while the woman’s children waited outside near a vehicle. When they heard the 7-year-old cry out, they ran to check on him—only to find Eagon standing in the driveway with a gun.

Police said Eagon chased Willey and fired multiple shots, striking him several times before turning the gun on both children. He then shot Willey again before fatally shooting himself. The distraught mother carried her lifeless children back into the home before calling for help.

The infant and Eagon were pronounced dead at the scene. The 7-year-old and Willey were taken to nearby hospitals, where they both died from their injuries.

Willey’s former boss, Kelly Gallagher, told WTVG that he was a loving, devoted father who would “do anything for that boy.” She added, “He just showed what it’s like to be a single dad and that he was going to be a part of his life. He did a lot with him. It’s tragic because especially when you find out it happened to somebody who’s got the biggest heart. Is the kindest person. Would do anything for anybody. It’s kind of like losing a family member.”

“This incident remains an active investigation by the Tiffin Police Department with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Seneca County Coroner’s Office,” authorities said.

As family, friends and the community gather to mourn and pray for healing, Chief Pauly’s words echo throughout the grieving town: “Keep the victims’ families in your thoughts as they face unimaginable loss.”

Heavenly Father, we lift up the families and friends shattered by this tragedy. Bring Your comfort to their broken hearts and surround them with peace that surpasses understanding. Heal the pain no words can reach, and let Your presence be felt in this grieving community. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
