Actor Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, are mourning the heartbreaking death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe.

The couple confirmed Fiona’s death in a statement Tuesday, remembering their daughter as a bright and creative teenager who brought tremendous joy to their family.

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said.

“She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” they continued. “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

The family did not publicly disclose a cause of death. They asked for prayers as they grieve the devastating loss.

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time,” the statement said.

Lowe, 58, and Painter, 52, are also parents to daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, is known for roles in “Life Goes On,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “Supergirl.” He won an Emmy Award in 1993 for his performance in “Life Goes On.”

Fiona had celebrated her 13th birthday in November 2025. At the time, Lowe shared a joyful tribute to his daughter on Instagram.

“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he wrote. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

The family had already endured significant loss in early 2025 when their home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades Fire. Lowe later shared photos of his daughters returning to what remained of the house where they had grown up.

“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” he wrote at the time. “I am in awe of their spirit and resilience.”

In the same post, Lowe reflected on how much fatherhood meant to him.

“Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose,” he wrote. “Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”

Now, the Lowe family is asking for prayers as they face an unimaginable loss.

Their statement also encouraged anyone struggling with mental health or emotional distress to seek help through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.

Fiona is survived by her parents and her sisters, Mabel and Nixie. As the family grieves, Christians can join them in prayer, asking God to surround Fiona’s parents, sisters and loved ones with comfort and strength in the difficult days ahead.
