Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is heading into the new NFL season with a clear message about what matters most to him: his faith in Jesus Christ.
“If it’s not from Jesus Christ, I don’t want it. I’m not bending my faith. It’s not worth it,” Jackson recently wrote on his Instagram Story, according to Christhlete.

The declaration comes as Jackson prepares for the 2026-27 season following a difficult year for the Ravens. But the two-time NFL MVP has repeatedly made it clear that his Christian faith is not dependent on wins, statistics or success on the field.
Jackson gave God the credit after one of his most impressive performances in 2024. Despite dealing with back and knee injuries that limited his practice time, he completed 16 of 19 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns as Baltimore defeated the Denver Broncos 41-10. His 158.3 passer rating was a perfect mark — the highest possible for an NFL quarterback.
Jackson said extra film study helped him prepare while he was sidelined from practice, but he pointed to a greater source behind the Ravens’ success.
“And God. God, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that’s why we’re having so much success,” Jackson said after the game. “That’s the One that’s leading us throughout these games, week in and week out.”
Faith was also front and center when Jackson accepted the NFL MVP award for the 2023 season after throwing for a then-career-best 3,678 yards, rushing for another 821 and leading Baltimore to the AFC Championship Game.
“First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Jackson said while accepting the award. “Without Him, nothing is possible.”
Jackson faced a much different situation during the 2025 season. Injuries, including a hamstring issue, sidelined him, and Baltimore failed to reach the playoffs. It marked the first season Jackson finished with a losing record as a starter.
Amid criticism following the disappointing year, Jackson again turned to his faith publicly.
“Instead of trying to bring me down, ask GOD to bring you up,” he wrote on X in April, adding the hashtag “#JESUSCHRISTKINGOFKINGS.”
Now, as Jackson looks toward another season and another opportunity to lead the Ravens, his message remains consistent. Whether he is celebrating an MVP award, answering critics or battling through adversity, the quarterback continues to make his priorities clear: football matters, but his faith comes first.
