Country music fans are preparing to say goodbye to one of the genre’s most beloved voices as country legend Alan Jackson gets ready to perform the final concert of his touring career later this month.
Jackson’s farewell event, titled “Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale,” is scheduled for June 27 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The concert will be filmed for a television special, ALAN JACKSON: THE LAST SHOW, which is expected to air on NBC and stream on Peacock later this year.
The special performance will celebrate Jackson’s decades-long career and feature many of the songs that made him one of country music’s most recognizable traditional voices. Known for hits like “Chattahoochee,” “Remember When,” and “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning),” Jackson has spent more than 30 years shaping the sound of modern country music while staying rooted in classic storytelling and heartfelt lyrics.
But the farewell concert also comes amid an ongoing health battle that has increasingly affected the singer’s ability to perform.
In 2021, Jackson revealed that he had been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a degenerative nerve disorder that impacts balance, mobility, and muscle strength. According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition often causes weakness in the legs and feet and can gradually affect the hands and arms as well.
Jackson has remained open with fans about how the disease has progressed over time.
“I think it’s just getting time to start thinking about hanging it up full-time,” he said in 2024.
“Most of my fans know I have a degenerative health condition that affects my legs and arms and mobility that I got from my daddy, and it’s getting worse, and it makes me more uncomfortable on stage,” Jackson explained. “I have a hard time, and I just want to think about maybe calling it quits before I’m unable to do the job like I want to.”
Even as his touring days come to an end, fans around the country will still get a chance to experience the historic night. Jackson’s official Instagram account recently confirmed that the concert will air nationally.
“Exciting News! ALAN JACKSON: THE LAST SHOW will air later this year on @nbc and stream the next day on @peacock,” the post said. “Celebrating the music, memories, and fans who have been part of the journey every step of the way!”
Fans quickly filled the comments section with appreciation for the country icon and his legacy.
“I knew they would air this since Alan is the Greatest Country singer ever,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Alan Jackson and his real country music lives forever.”
The farewell concert is expected to feature appearances from several major country stars honoring Jackson’s influence on the genre. The lineup includes Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Eric Church, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Thomas Rhett and others.
Since arriving on the country music scene in the late 1980s, Jackson has earned multiple Grammy Awards, sold millions of albums, and secured his place in country music history with his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
For many fans, the upcoming concert will be more than just another show. It will mark the closing chapter of a career defined by authenticity, timeless music, and songs that connected with generations of listeners. While fans are saddened to see Jackson step away from touring, many are grateful for one final chance to celebrate the artist whose music became the soundtrack to countless memories.
