Robert Tebow, a longtime missionary, devoted father, and spiritual leader, has passed away at the age of 78 after a years-long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Known to many as the father of former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, Robert’s legacy stretches far beyond football — rooted deeply in faith, mission work, and unwavering trust in God.

Tim Tebow shared the news of his father’s passing in a heartfelt Facebook post, offering a perspective grounded in hope rather than sorrow. “Many will say sorry for your loss, but the truth is, he’s not lost; we know exactly where he is,” Tebow wrote. “He’s home. Forever!”

In a moment that captured the essence of his father’s faith, Tebow recalled asking him what he was most looking forward to in Heaven. His answer was simple and profound: “Jesus.”

“He couldn’t wait to see Jesus face-to-face,” Tebow wrote. “Praise God that his wait is over. Death has been swallowed up in victory. He’s healed and whole now. So we don’t mourn as those with no hope. See you soon, Dad!”

Robert Tebow and his wife, Pam, dedicated their lives to ministry, serving as Baptist missionaries in the Philippines beginning in 1985. Through their organization, the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association, they worked to share the Gospel and serve local communities. Pam Tebow later reflected on their time overseas, saying, “You always learn a lot when you visit a third-world country. You grow in appreciation for everything you have.”

It was during their time in the Philippines that the Tebows faced one of the greatest tests of their faith — the pregnancy of their youngest child, Tim.

Pam Tebow became gravely ill after contracting amoebic dysentery and fell into a coma. After discovering she was pregnant, doctors warned that the baby had likely been severely harmed due to medications and complications, including a detached placenta. They repeatedly advised her to have an abortion, fearing for both her life and the child’s.

“They thought I should have an abortion to save my life from the beginning all the way through the seventh month,” Pam Tebow recalled.

But the Tebows chose faith over fear.

“My husband just prayed that, if the Lord would give us a son, that he would let us raise him,” she said.

That son would go on to become one of the most recognizable athletes in the country, leading the University of Florida to national championships and later playing in the NFL — all while boldly sharing his Christian faith.

Those who knew Robert Tebow say his greatest accomplishment wasn’t raising a football star, but raising a family anchored in Christ and living out the Gospel through action. His life reflected a deep belief that faith isn’t just something you profess — it’s something you live.

And in moments like this, when loss meets hope, his story serves as a powerful reminder of the promise that sustained him — that for those who trust in Christ, death is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on that truth and lift up a prayer for his family:

Lord, we thank You for the life of Robert Tebow — a man who faithfully followed You and pointed others to Christ. Comfort his family with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind us that for those who believe, death is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life with You. Help us live with the same faith, courage, and hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
