Christian singer Kirbi, a 24-year-old from Florence, Alabama, wowed the judges and audience alike on a recent episode of The Voice with her emotional performance of “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” a song by Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll that celebrates redemption and faith through life’s struggles.

Performing for Team Niall, Kirbi—whose real name is Savanna Kirby—secured her place in the playoffs after delivering one of the most talked-about performances of the night. “Singing ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’ on that stage was an experience I can’t put into words,” she shared on Instagram after the episode. “That song means something deep to me, and to a lot of others, which is one reason I chose to sing it.” She added, “Wow. I feel so blessed to have made it to this point.”

Her coach, Niall Horan, was blown away by the performance. “I feel like I’m gonna pass out,” he said with a laugh. “That was your best performance to date, without a shadow of a doubt. It was beautiful to watch, beautiful to listen to—you just smashed it.” He went on to call the moment “undeniable,” adding, “There was no way she could sing like that, give the emotion that she gave, and leave this competition. She absolutely deserves to be in my top four.”

Other coaches were equally impressed. Snoop Dogg called it “the perfect song for you,” while Reba McEntire praised her “very emotional” delivery. Michael Bublé commended her artistry, saying, “You understand who you are, where you want to go. You have the guts to take on songs that seem like they may not be in your lane.”

Kirbi’s faith has been front and center throughout her Voice journey. Earlier this season, she turned all four chairs during her blind audition with a stunning rendition of for KING + COUNTRY’s Grammy-winning song “God Only Knows.” Later, during the Battles round, she performed Lauren Daigle’s “You Say,” sharing afterward, “The message of this song hit me hard. God has been so good and gracious to me when I don’t show myself the same grace. Thank you, Jesus, for bringing me this far.”

Originally from Alabama, Kirbi relocated to Nashville in 2023 to pursue a full-time career in music. Her Christian faith continues to guide her songwriting and performances, resonating with audiences who appreciate her authenticity and devotion.

Kirbi’s journey reflects a growing trend on The Voice, where faith-based songs and openly Christian artists are increasingly in the spotlight. In 2020, Mississippi pastor Todd Tilghman won the competition with a moving performance of MercyMe’s “I Can Only Imagine.” More recently, Christian artist Bodie—formerly a worship leader—credited his 2022 run on the show for redirecting his heart toward worship music after performing Brandon Lake’s “Gratitude” in the finale.

For Kirbi, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” felt like a personal testimony. The song’s message of perseverance, grace, and praise amid hardship struck a chord not just with the coaches but with viewers who saw her performance as a reminder of God’s faithfulness.

As she heads into the playoffs, Kirbi remains grateful for the opportunity to share her faith on a national stage. “I can’t express how thankful I am,” she said. “God’s been with me every step of the way.”
