Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard AJ Green isn’t just making his mark on the court—he’s also using his platform to point people to Jesus.
Recently, Bucks players were given the opportunity to take over the team’s social media accounts. While some athletes used the moment for fun or personal promotion, Green chose to share his faith. A photo captured him typing out John 14:6, one of the most direct declarations of Christ’s identity.
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”
Sports analyst Jon Root highlighted the post on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “The Milwaukee Bucks had players take over their X account & Guard AJ Green used his moment to share an essential aspect of the Gospel. Here’s AJ Green typing out this post.”
This bold act wasn’t out of character for Green. He frequently uses his own social media accounts to share scripture, encouragement, and reflections on what God is doing in his life.
In one post, he wrote: “I can’t gain a thing if I’ve already won✝️.”
In another, he shared about his wedding with his wife, Kaylee:
“Marriage is one of God’s greatest gifts, and we are so excited to begin our lives together as one in service to the Lord.”
Green has also spoken about how his faith connects with basketball. During a trip to Bhutan, where he played against local athletes, he quoted Ephesians 3:20 and said he was “blessed to have had the opportunity to share my love for Jesus and the game of basketball with the great people and country of Bhutan.”
Green’s career path is also a story of perseverance and God’s timing. After playing at the University of Northern Iowa, he went undrafted in the NBA Draft. But instead of giving up, he signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. In 2023, he earned another contract and continues to grow as a contributor for the team.
