In a recent interview with Essence, R&B singer Bobby Brown and his wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown discussed their relationship and revealed that the key to their marriage success is keeping faith at the center.

Brown has made headlines throughout the years for his bad boy behavior, but his life was transformed in recent years, much due to his faith and second marriage.

“You can’t do anything without God. You can’t wake up in the morning, you can’t go to sleep,” Brown  said.

“I’m just thankful that I have that connection with her,” Brown said when talking about his wife, Alicia. “We believe in the same thing, we’re spiritual…”

Another thing that keeps their marriage grounded is having the same values, Etheredge-Brown said.

“We walk in gratitude, that’s so important to us,” she added. “It’s really nice to find a partner that you’re in sync with on that, anything else just stop the struggle.”

The couple married in 2012 and have a son and two daughters together. Previously, Brown was in a high profile marriage with singing legend Whitney Houston. Brown’s daughter with Houston died tragically in 2015 after being found in a Georgia bathtub, unconscious. After all the ups and downs, Brown said he’s found “peace” with Alicia.

“My happiness is definitely comes from us falling in love, me finding real love, me finding what I needed in life to transition to the next level of the man I’m going to be,” Brown said. “She’s my peace, she’s my muse, she’s my everything.”
