The 2026 Emmy Awards honored television’s biggest stars Monday night, with Michael J. Fox and Taylor Swift among the names behind some of the ceremony’s most memorable moments.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with “Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay hosting. Hargitay noted that she was the first woman to host the Emmys in 15 years, joking, “Imagine that. For 15 straight years, Amy [Poehler] and Tina [Fey] said no.”

One of the night’s most emotional moments came when Fox received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his advocacy and work advancing Parkinson’s disease research. Fox publicly disclosed his diagnosis in 1998 and founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research two years later.

“I worried that it would affect my work and my relationship with audiences,” Fox said during his acceptance speech. He recalled being “stunned” by the support he received, saying it was “so uplifting” and made him feel like he could keep going.

The ceremony also paid tribute to Dolly Parton, who died last month at age 80. Her “Steel Magnolias” co-star Sally Field remembered Parton before Reba McEntire performed the country music legend’s “Appalachian Memories.”

Dan Levy honored his late “Schitt’s Creek” co-star Catherine O’Hara, calling her “such a singular force” and remembering the creativity she brought to her Emmy-winning role as Moira Rose.

Taylor Swift provided one of the night’s lighter surprises with a pre-taped appearance in a “Law & Order: SVU” parody alongside Hargitay. Swift has long been a fan of the series and famously named her cat Olivia Benson after Hargitay’s character.
