10 months after his murder, Charlie Kirk’s family is beginning their quest for justice as pre-trial hearings begin against Tyler Robinson, the man charged with Kirk’s murder. Social media reactions have been filled with news of the “overwhelming” evidence of Robinson’s guilt, including a 4K video that shows Robinson allegedly taking the shot that would ultimately end Kirk’s life. Erika Kirk, along with Charlie Kirk’s parents, have attended the pretrial hearings, along with journalists, members of the public, and friends of the Kirk family.
Child actor Ricky Schroder and his wife, Julie Trammel, have documented their time attending the hearings, calling on Robinson “to do the right thing.” Schroder also voiced he and his wife’s support for the Kirk family. “So, we’re here at Freedom Boulevard in Provo, Utah, at the Charlie Kirk preliminary trial hearing and want to just lend our support to the Kirk family and remember Charlie and what he stood for,” he said on Instagram.
Shroder also shared some harsh words for podcaster, Candace Owens, who has claimed that Robinson is being set up for the murder, implying that anyone from Israel, conservative pundit Ben Shapiro, President Trump, and even Erika Kirk may have some sort of role in an elaborate cover up of Kirk’s death. Shroder stated he and his wife had listened to Owens’s appearance on the “Shawn Ryan Show” on the way to Utah. Shroder asked Trammel what she thought of the episode, to which she responded she was “disgusted.” “It’s shameful,” agreed Schroder. “It seems to me one day that they’ll be embarrassed of the way they’ve treated the Kirks. I mean, I know they think they’re doing the right thing, but have some decency and respect for the grieving.”
Owens’s theories about Kirk’s murder have given her a wide following as she and her team of internet sleuths make claims that Kirk’s microphone exploded, causing the fatal blow, and also accusing her former boss, Shapiro, of providing security to Kirk that had ties to Israel’s IDF. During his lifetime, Kirk generally expressed support for the state of Israel, but Owens has stated that he was turning against the country and that may have contributed to his death. She has also implied that Erika Kirk was Charlie’s handler and has questioned whether Kirk’s widow is in real mourning. She has also shared private text messages between herself and Kirk, with many criticizing that he is not alive to offer context.
Shroder is not the only person to go after Owens for her treatment of Erika Kirk. Shapiro and Owens went through a spat on X, with Shapiro admitting he and Kirk “weren’t best friends.” “For ten months, you’ve been slandering Charlie’s wife, his friends, and all of the people he worked with,” Shapiro said of Owens. “You’re working to acquit his murderer. You’re spreading conspiratorial poison for cash. That’s something anyone of decency should condemn. The fact that so many are unwilling to do so is demonstrative of widespread cowardice, stupidity, wickedness…or all three.” “See, your big problem is that this entire thing is not about you, Candace. It’s about Charlie. It’s about Erika. It’s about his kids and his legacy. But time and time again you’ve hijacked Charlie’s story by smearing and slandering his wife, his org, and his friends (and countless other people)… It’s not about YOU, Candace.” wrote Andrew Kolvet, TPUSA spokesman.
