Actor John Stamos is remembering his longtime friend and former co-star Bob Saget with an emotional tribute on what would have been Saget’s 70th birthday.
Stamos shared what he called their “last pic” together on Instagram, posting a sunset photo featuring himself and wife Caitlin McHugh alongside Saget and his widow, Kelly Rizzo. The oceanside image carried a simple caption written across the top: “Last Pic.”

The post included several throwback photos and videos celebrating the friendship the two actors built during and after their years on the hit sitcom Full House. In one image, Stamos wrapped his arms around Saget while he sat behind a drum set. Another featured the cast performing music together, with Stamos playing guitar and Saget singing into a microphone.
The nostalgic photo also included Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen holding tambourines as children, while Dave Coulier sang nearby.
“We used to throw each other great birthday parties,” Stamos wrote in his tribute. “Your 70th today would’ve been epic. I miss you and love you.”
Fans and celebrities quickly filled the comments with messages of support and remembrance. Candace Cameron Bure responded with heart emojis, while actress Darcy Rose Byrnes wrote, “Sending you all so much love.”
For many viewers, Saget became known as television’s ultimate father figure through his role as Danny Tanner, the widowed dad raising three daughters on “Full House” after his wife died in a drunk driving crash. His mix of humor, warmth and sincerity made him beloved by generations of fans.
Saget died unexpectedly on Jan. 9, 2022, at age 65 after suffering blunt head trauma while staying at the The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes. His autopsy later revealed multiple skull fractures and brain bleeding caused by the injury.
In the days after Saget’s death, Stamos openly shared his grief, writing that he was “broken, gutted” and in “complete and utter shock.” He also said, “I will never ever have another friend like him.”
During Saget’s memorial service, Stamos reflected on how their friendship grew over time. He admitted the two initially clashed while working together on “Full House” because of their different acting styles, but eventually developed a deep respect for one another both professionally and personally.
“He was there through divorces, deaths, despair and dark days,” Stamos said at the memorial. “He was there through love, marriage, a child and bright times. He was my lifeline.”
The touching birthday tribute served as another reminder of the strong bond the two shared — one built not only through television fame, but through years of loyalty, laughter and friendship that endured long after the cameras stopped rolling.
