Former supermodel Kim Alexis is calling on celebrities to recognize a powerful and often overlooked audience: Christians who are paying attention not just to talent, but to values.

Alexis, who rose to fame as a Sports Illustrated model in the 1980s, recently reflected on her career and the challenges she faced as a young Christian navigating the high-pressure world of fashion. Despite her success, she said there was always an internal tension when it came to staying true to her beliefs.

“To be Christian and not to participate in certain dirty jokes and not to live some of the lifestyle was difficult,” Alexis shared in a recent interview. “And I was 18, and I was trying to figure out… why do I have this weird check in my spirit?”

That “check,” she later realized, was a guiding force helping her stay grounded. While she admits she didn’t always get it right, Alexis said the difference was clear when she followed her convictions.

“I always felt better about myself when I stayed true to myself and what I thought I should be doing,” she said. “And that peace that I get cannot be replaced by anything else.”

Now looking back, Alexis believes more celebrities should be open about their faith, especially given the influence they carry. However, she acknowledged that not everyone is given the same freedom to speak out.

“I think it depends on how big the superstar is,” she explained. “With power comes almost a bigger platform to be able to speak and say what you want.”

Still, there are signs of change. Alexis pointed to moments like actor Michael B. Jordan proclaiming “God is good” during his recent Oscar acceptance speech, as well as longtime faith-driven figures like Roma Downey, Kathie Lee Gifford, and Candace Cameron Bure, who have consistently spoken about their beliefs in the public square.

Downey previously shared a simple but powerful standard she used when choosing roles: “If I wouldn’t want my dad to see me in something… that was a good indicator of whether I should do it or not.”

For Alexis, that kind of conviction matters—not just in Hollywood, but at home. As a mother, she made it a priority to instill Christian values in her children, emphasizing respect, responsibility, and the Golden Rule.

“One of my mother’s biggest sayings for me was do unto others as you want them to do to you,” she said. “So, how you want to be treated, you should treat others.”

She applied those principles in everyday life, teaching her children to treat even small things—like a rental car—with care and integrity. “You treat that as good as your own property,” she told them, reinforcing the idea that character shows up in the details.

Alexis expanded on her parenting philosophy in her book A Model for a Better Future, and she’s continuing those conversations today with the launch of her new podcast, UNEXPIRED.

At the heart of her message is a challenge to today’s celebrities: don’t underestimate the audience that’s watching—and listening—with faith in mind. For Alexis, being bold about belief isn’t just personal, it’s purposeful.
