“I find it extremely hard asking for funds for all these costs I’m going through,” Duguay told Page Six. “Normally, I’m helping others.”

His daughters created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover mounting expenses — including surgeries, chemotherapy, travel between Florida and California, and potential treatments outside the United States. The fundraiser has already surpassed its original goal, reflecting the strong support surrounding the former New York Rangers star.

“Our dad has never been someone who asks for help…especially when it comes to money,” his daughters wrote. “He has always tried to handle everything on his own and didn’t want to burden anyone else with what he’s going through.”

Thomas also shared the emotional realities of watching a loved one endure cancer. “Cancer is so frustrating,” she wrote. “Honestly… nothing prepares you for what this fight really looks like until someone you love is living it every single day.”

She encouraged others walking similar paths with a message of faith: “For anyone else walking through this or loving someone who is… keep your faith. Keep fighting. God is still working.”

Duguay has been candid about how severe the disease has become, saying cancer “sucks the life out of you” and is “so freaking costly.” Despite the hardship, he remains determined to keep fighting and to use what he learns to help others.

“I am going to do all the alternative along with the Western medicine,” he said. “What I am learning, I will be able to share with others.” He added, “I need to get better so I can help others.”

Palin and Duguay have been dating since 2022 and typically keep their relationship private. But Palin previously described their bond as deeply supportive, calling it “safe and comfortable.” She said Duguay is someone she can confide in about life beyond politics — a role that now extends into one of the most difficult seasons either has faced.
