Actor Rob Schneider is pushing back against Hollywood, calling it out for blacklisting conservatives. The actor, who is famous for his comedic roles in “The Hot Chick” and numerous memorable characters from Adam Sandler films, finds nothing funny about the way Hollywood is “dismantling itself” as it blacklists conservative celebrities like himself. Speaking on the “American Thought Leaders” podcast, Schneider discussed how working roles began to disappear for him as he became more vocal about his political views. “That was it for me starring in movies,” he said. “The act of telling the truth in an age of authoritarianism, in an age of lies, is a courageous act,” he added, while dismissing that he believes he is courageous. “When I think of real courage, I think of… in any major city, the cemeteries of people who gave their, what Lincoln describes, the last full measure of their devotion for this great land.” He jokingly lamented he would never be able to make “Deuce Bigalow” sequels 4, 5, and 6.
Schneider cited iconic actor Charlton Heston as an example. Heston was an early supporter of the civil rights movement, who Schneider claimed was later canceled for his conservative values. He served as a five-term president for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and left the Democrat party for the Republican party, claiming it had grown too radical. Schneider said he was “rejected by the liberal intelligentsia because he just happened to be a conservative.” “I think that’s shameful. I think that’s a rot in the soul of Hollywood,” said Schneider. “And I think today’s blacklisting of conservatives is the same thing. I think, at its core, it is adding to its destruction.”
Schneider made the bold prediction that such blacklisting would leave most major film studios as “real estate” in five years. The numbers may support such an assertion. Less and less films are being filmed in LA as expenses balloon and more actors seek to make their own versions of Hollywood. Actor Mark Wahlberg is pushing for “Hollywood 2.0” to be built in Las Vegas as he lobbies for tax credits to build a studio. Actor Zachary Levi, who has also come under fire for his conservative values, has launched Wyldwood Studios in Texas.
Schneider, in the meantime, has only continued to share his conservative values. He recently spoke at a Turning Point USA event at UC Berkeley with Frank Turek following the murder of TPUSA’s founder, Charlie Kirk. He is also continuing to tour through 2026. Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2024, Schneider shared that he felt “emboldened.” “Once they attack you and you survive, you feel emboldened because it’s like, ‘you didn’t destroy me,’ you just felt like you got burned, but you’re still intact.”
