Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa once again put his faith front and center after leading his team to victory, reminding fans that for him, football is about more than just wins and losses.

The Dolphins secured a 27–21 victory over the New York Jets, and Tagovailoa wasted no time directing the spotlight away from himself. In his post-game interview, he began by saying, “First and foremost, all glory belongs to God, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

“I just want to thank Him for this victory,” Tagovailoa continued, also noting his gratitude for “keeping us safe for the most part.” The quarterback, who has often been outspoken about his Christian faith, closed his interview by emphasizing, “I just wanted to make sure that I glorified my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

This was not the first time the young NFL star has used his platform to highlight his faith in Christ. Back in 2018, as a college football player at the University of Alabama, Tagovailoa captured headlines after leading his team to a dramatic win against the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

At that time, he proclaimed: “First and foremost, I’d just like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With Him, all things are possible. That’s what happened tonight.” He added, “All glory goes to God. I can’t describe what He’s done for me and my family. Who would have ever thought I would have been here, right now in this moment… thank God for that.”

Tagovailoa later revealed that during the tense game, he had been praying and even “speaking in tongues” to help him stay calm. “I would say my poise comes from my faith. I just pray for peace,” he explained.

Tagovailoa’s reliance on his faith has also been evident in times of hardship. After suffering a season-ending injury in 2019, he still expressed confidence in God’s greater purpose, saying he believed that “God always has a plan.”

In an interview with The Christian Broadcasting Network, he went deeper into his beliefs: “It’s not just a matter of hearing what Jesus Christ is. It’s a matter of getting to know who Jesus Christ is, to really understand and really feel the identity of who you are because of things that He’s done. And I’d say you can only find your identity through Him, if you know Him.”

Tagovailoa continues to use every opportunity to remind fans where his ultimate loyalty lies. On his official X account, his bio includes a reference to 1 Corinthians 2:9: “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.”

When the Dolphins drafted him in 2020, he posted an image of himself holding up his new jersey with the number “1,” captioning it: “For an audience of 1,” accompanied by a praying hands emoji.

For Tagovailoa, football may be a career, but his faith in Jesus defines his life. Whether celebrating a big win or going through personal trials, he continues to point others toward Christ—a reminder to fans and teammates alike that true victory comes from living for God’s glory.
