Country music artist and conservative commentator Alexis Wilkins is making headlines for refusing to compromise her values—even when pressured by industry insiders to remove the American flag from her social media profile.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Wilkins explained that what began as a simple choice about her Instagram bio quickly grew into a defining stand about her faith, patriotism, and convictions.

“I was told to take an American flag out of my Instagram bio, or that I had to support certain things or do certain things in order to get booked on tours, in order to get signed to a label,” Wilkins said. “There are things that ultimately have to give up, and I wasn’t willing to do that and bend the knee to that.”

Though Wilkins had not been politically outspoken in her younger years, she said her time in college changed everything.

“I was given an F in a class, and I have only ever gotten As in my life because of my politics,” she explained. Professors, she recalled, demanded that students write papers denigrating the Trump administration, but Wilkins refused.

“When he gave that to me just simply for not going along with the status quo … that was the point where I said, ‘okay, it looks like me not saying that I’m a liberal means that I am a conservative.’ Anyway, so I’m willing to draw a line in the sand, and I think it’s time in this country that we did.”

That moment, she said, gave her the courage to embrace her beliefs rather than stay silent.

While country music often celebrates themes of faith, family, and freedom, Wilkins noted that certain parts of the industry still try to impose boundaries on artists.

“The industry and some figureheads in the industry were just saying that me having an American flag in my bio was going to be seen as partisan,” she recalled.

Wilkins strongly disagreed. “It’s ridiculous to suggest that being proud of the country you live in should be considered partisan,” she said.

She also shared that even working with veterans’ organizations was sometimes discouraged as “partisan” during the 2016 election cycle. However, for her, honoring America’s veterans and supporting patriotic values are non-negotiables.

For Wilkins, refusing to compromise is not just about politics—it’s about faith and identity. She believes that Christians and conservatives alike are often pressured to stay quiet, but she sees the current cultural moment as a call to stand firm.

“It was things that were fundamentally American and things that I wasn’t willing to compromise on,” she said.

Her stand echoes the biblical reminder in Galatians 5:1: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

In a time when patriotism itself can be labeled controversial, Alexis Wilkins has chosen to hold her ground. By keeping the American flag in her bio, she’s sending a clear message: some values are worth defending, no matter the cost.
