Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Traeshon Holden is making headlines off the field—and this time, it’s for his faith.
Holden shared a powerful moment of spiritual transformation with his followers by posting a video of his baptism. In the short clip posted to X, the 6-foot-3 wideout walks into a baptismal pool fully clothed, is submerged by two men, and rises again to a chorus of joyful applause from the congregation. Playing in the background is Chris Tomlin’s worship anthem, “Jesus Messiah.”
Holden captioned the post simply but profoundly: “Thank You, Lord, for this day.”

It’s a public display of faith that fits with Holden’s recent online presence. Over the past few months, the former Alabama and Oregon standout has been open about trusting God through the highs and lows of his football journey.
Back in April, on the first day of the NFL Draft, Holden posted Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Though he wasn’t selected in the 2025 Draft, Holden’s faith remained unshaken. Just two days later, when someone pointed out that players with less college production were getting drafted, Holden responded: “The Lord don’t make no mistakes.”
That trust was rewarded when the Dallas Cowboys offered him a shot at his dream. On May 22, Holden signed a three-year deal with the Cowboys, and he once again gave credit where it was due. “Everything happened this way for a reason,” he wrote in a reflective post, suggesting that God had been guiding his path all along.
Even before joining the NFL, Holden’s life was rooted in faith. He attended St. Frances Academy, a Catholic high school in Baltimore, before playing three seasons at Alabama and finishing his college career at the University of Oregon. When he declared for the draft earlier this year, Holden opened his statement with gratitude: “All thanks to God for allowing me to be in this position to fulfill a childhood dream.”
His recent baptism marks a new chapter in his athletic career and his walk with Christ.
