Former NFL quarterback Phillip Rivers recently announced that he and his wife Tiffany are expecting their 10th child together later this year. Rivers, who spent 16 seasons at quarterback for the Chargers in San Diego, which later moved to Los Angeles, told AL.com that he and his wife are expecting a baby boy in October. “We’ve had one pretty much every two years and now this is the longest gap,” said Rivers. “We are all fired up. Everyone was pulling for a boy. Even our girls wanted a boy.”

Rivers currently has seven daughters and two sons, who range from ages 4 to 21. He added that their baby boy will break the family tradition of nine children. Rivers’ mother was one of nine along with his maternal grandfather. “We thought we would be the third generation of nine, but we decided to go double digits – or I should we didn’t decide it. God decided,” said the former quarterback. When asked about possible names for their new addition, River said “We are still kind of figuring that out. We have plenty of opinions. That is what we’ve got right now.”

Rivers tied the knot with middle school sweetheart, Tiffany, after his freshman year of college at North Carolina State University in 2001. A year later, they welcomed their first child, Halle, and have continued to welcome eight more children, with one more on the way. In 2019, Rivers shared his best parenting advice saying, “I think it’s a challenge, and I’m by no means perfect at it, nor is anybody, but I think what I would always tell other dads is to try to be present. Just try to be there. … I think from a dad standpoint, children want our time. Sometimes it might just be five minutes, and sometimes it can be a lot more, but I think they want our time and to be engaged with them and present.”
