Brandon Lake led the way with three wins, and For King & Country won Artist of the Year during the 10th Annual K-Love Fan Awards. Lake won Male Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Worship Song of the Year, both of the latter for his song “Gratitude.”

For King & Country won Artist of the Year, while MercyMe won Group of the Year. Fan favorite Lauren Daigle won Female Artist of the Year, and CAIN hosted the show. Lake said “Gratitude” is a “powerful weapon” for Christians.

After the show, he told Christian Headlines and other media outlets, “I have so much to be grateful for. The song has been a reminder that God can use anyone, and He can use anything. That song almost didn’t make my record. And it wasn’t a single or a highlighted track.” He said the song “reminded me that God will use the least likely person and the least likely song to change other people’s lives.”

The wives of For King & Country’s Luke and Joel Smallbone accepted their award while the group is on tour in Canada. Moriah Smallbone, Joel’s wife, said she travels with him “a lot.” She added, “The biggest challenge is just lining up the calendars. But we will cross oceans, and we will take trains and planes and Ubers and do whatever we need to be together.” Courtney Smallbone, Luke’s wife, said, “We’ve had great adventures.”

Bart Millard said he and his bandmates are “still best friends.” The group released its first album in the 1990s. “We still love what we’re doing,” he said after the show. “There’s no explanation other than God in this because it makes zero sense that we’re making music 30 years later. We never in a million years thought we’d be still doing this.” Rachael Lampa won Breakout Single of the Year for her song “Perfectly Loved.”
