The follow-up to the most successful independent faith film of 2014 is finally here! God’s Not Dead 2 will be hitting theaters on April 1, 2016 but you can get a sneak peak of the upcoming film above in the new trailer just released.

God’s Not Dead 2 will again feature a story based on Christians standing up for their faith in a culture that is trying desperately to take their rights away. The action will take place in a court room, where a Christian teacher (Melissa Joan Hart) is forced before a judge for answering a student’s question about the similarities of Jesus’ teachings to those of Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandi. Hart’s character not only has to worry about her teaching position, but all those outside the courtroom trying to mark her as an example of how God should be removed from the public schools for good.

The cast has a star studded line-up, including Hart (Melissa & Joey), Jesse Metcalfe (Dallas), Hayley Orrantia (The Goldbergs), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), Sadie Robertson (Duck Dynasty), Robin Givens (Head of The Class), and Maria Canals-Barrera (Cristela). The late Fred Thompson (Law & Order) is also on the cast in one of his final film appearances.

Many actors from the original God’s Not Dead will also be returning, including Trisha LaFache (Amy Ryan), Benjamin Onyango (Reverend Jude), Paul Kwo (Martin Yip), and the award-winning CCM group The Newsboys (Michael Tait, Duncan Phillips, Jeff Frankenstein, and Jody Davis).
