Also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, ALS affects the nerve cells in the brain, spinal cord, and muscles through the body, according to the ALS Association. Ultimately, the person loses all control of their muscles.

Celebrities, neighbors, politicians, and thousands of others across the globe have helped raise a staggering 93.4 million dollars since July 29th compared to 2.5 million it raised in 2013.
