Thumbnail image for twilight-cruise.jpgNo, this isn’t a joke. If you didn’t know already, there is actually a Twilight Cruise for Twilight fans. The New York Times was touting it in their special cruise review “Offering Whatever Floats Your Boat” in the Travel section this weekend:

“The teenage heartthrobs Alex Meraz and Michael Welch, who star in the vampire movie “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” will join the four-day Twilight Cruise from Seattle to Alaska onboard Holland America’s Oosterdam. Prices start at $1,049, not including an optional off-shore excursion to Forks, Wash., where the vampire drama is set.”
When I saw this I had to check out the website of course, at which point I found out it’s not only a cruise, it’s a convention! (The Ultimate Convention at Sea for Twilight Fans as far as the cruise directors are concerned). The Twilight Cruise/Convention boasts the following exciting(!) perks(!):
Q & A Session with the Actors & other Guests
Individual Photo Shoot with the Actors
Autograph Session
Costume Ball
Movie Viewings with Our Group
Trivia Contests & Games
All Twilight… All Week Long!
For the truly, truly dedicated, you can go on a pre-cruise trip to Forks, Washington. (I added the second truly because I figure the truly dedicated are already going on the cruise/convention, so you’d have to be extra truly dedicated to do both, not to mention have a lot of cash to burn on Twilight.)
What will they think of next? Twilight has to have surpassed Harry Potter in terms of merchandizing by now. I’ve never seen anything like this. Ever.
