What would happen if we loved ourselves? What will happen when we start to love ourselves…

Perhaps the most important personal growth topic that exists! Imagine actually really deeply fully and totally loving yourself. You know why? ‘Cos you deserve it in every way!

Yes! You deserve to be loved, to love, and to bask in the glory of being the only “you” in the entire universe!

As the Buddha taught ~ “You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.”

I’m sharing amazing prose by my beautiful friend, Tamara Critch who contemplates this idea. I first heard these words read to me in the midst of a meditation and felt deeply moved and enriched by it. I hope you enjoy:

“When I started loving myself
At any given opportunity, I see, I am at the right place at the right time.
Everything happens for good reason and I can be calm and still have faith, even when things don’t always work out how I’d like.
Now I know this is: TRUST.

When I started loving myself
It’s uncomfortable to try and force desire on others,
especially when the time is not right or the person is not ready,
even though this person is mostly me.
Now I know this is: LETTING GO.

When I started loving myself
I recognize emotional pain and grief felt in my body are simply warnings for me not to live against my own truth and set healthy boundaries.
Now I know this is: AUTHENTICITY.

When I started loving myself
I stopped longing for another life or to be someone else
and see that everything around me is an opportunity for growth.
Now I know this is: WISDOM.

When I started loving myself
I stopped depriving myself of free time, that’s just for me
No longer concocting future projects, I do what makes my heart laugh, that is fun and full of joy.
In my way and in my time.
Now I know this is: SINCERITY.

When I started loving myself
I stopped needing to always be right and now embrace the teachings of being wrong and not taking failure as anything personal
whilst remain patient.
Now I know this is: HUMILITY.

When I started loving myself
I refused to live in the past or worry about my future.
Now I live only in this moment ,where it all takes place and observe the body and how it’s feeling as it is without judgment.
Now I know this is: MINDFULNESS.

When I started loving myself
I realized that thinking creates reality and the many things I can’t change and even though being positive will not guarantee bad things won’t happen,
it just helps the journey to be more enjoyable
and that makes all the difference.
Now I know this is: HAPPINESS.

When I started loving myselfiloveme
My body started to sing and vibrate health
when I forgave that person, cells began to regenerate, healing in itself. The sweet surrender to the noise existing outside happening
doesn’t need to be taken within.
Now I know this is: GRACE.

When I started loving myself
I experienced so much love and magic in my life and miracles began to happen when I never expected them.
I then saw that love is not something I do or earn.
It’s something I allow.
I allow love to love me.
Now I know this is: GRATITUDE.”
