The People’s Choice Awards air tonight, live on CBS beginning at 9:00 PM EST (tape delayed on the West Coast).
Awards will be given out for everything from Favorite Movies and TV shows to Favorite Franchise (I think that translates to “Which marketing team does the best job licensing and selling books, movies, t-shirts, ringtones, Happy Meal toys, posters and other related crap?”; I vote for The Twilight Saga!)
While I really don’t care much about most of the categories, the one that I am curious to find out the winner is Favorite Breakout Music Artist. The nominees are:

Adam Lambert
Demi Lovato
Kris Allen
Lady Gaga
Susan Boyle
Clearly Adam Lambert has a huge edge over Kris Allen when it comes to fan voting, and Lady Gaga is obviously a frontrunner with the pop crowd. I suppose Demi Lovato could be a contender.
But I love that Susan Boyle was included. I can’t begin to guess who actually votes for these awards – teens? tweens? adults bored at work and surfing the net? – but wouldn’t it be grand if the unlikely star from Britain won?
