With Election Day finally having come and gone, God-o-Meter is closing up shop till 2012–or at least 2010. Till then, get your faith and politics fix over at Beliefnet editor-in-chief Steve Waldman’s blog.
Hillary Clinton has won Ohio, basically a microcosm of the United States. She swept Protestant and Catholic voters there, while Obama won the unchurched and “other Christians.” At the same time, exit polls showed that Obama won weekly and monthly churchgoers, while Clinton took less frequent churchgoers. This makes for a pretty muddy picture of how Ohio’s religious Democrats voted. God-o-Meter suspects it reflects Obama’s landslide among blacks, who tend to be frequent churchgoers, and Clinton’s strength among white churchgoers.
