Now that he’s moving up in the polls, Mike Huckabee is getting a second look from the national media. Can the A-listers on the Christian Right be far behind?
The latest American Research Group poll shows the former Arkansas governor now in second place among Republicans in Iowa, with 19 percent support, trailing only Mitt Romney with 27 percent. The surge prompted the Washington Post to ponder over the weekend “How Huckabee Could Rock the 2008 Vote.” And USA Today followed him on a fundraising tour in Texas and noted that the former Baptist preacher is building support and attracting campaign cash from a growing evangelical base.

God-o-Meter wonders whether any of this will impress top-tier evangelical politicos who so far have spurned Huckabee’s candidacy as having no traction.
